Superman Is Dead Tak Agungkan Alkohol

Mengenai kabar bahwa di facebook Superman Is Dead atau SID menyarankan penggemar yang masih muda untuk tidak meminum alkohol di bantah oleh penggebuk drum, Jerinx. Menurutnya dia tidak pernah membicarakan masalah alkohol seperti itu. Baginya itu merupakan masalah pribadi dari masing-masing individu.

"Kita enggak pernah membicarakan masalah alkohol," ujarnya saat dijumpai di Kantor Sony Music, Jl. Johar Menteng, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (27/1).
Jerinx mengatakan bahwa SID memang pernah menulis lagu yang mempunyai pesan mengenai dampak buruk alkohol jika meminumnya secara berlebihan.
"Ada di sebuah lagu yang judulnya Goodbye Whisky, yang pesan moralnya boleh minum tapi jangan merusak diri," paparnya.
Pria yang mempunyai tato banyak ini juga menegaskan bahwa mereka tidak pernah mengagung-agungkan alkohol baik dalam perilaku maupun di lirik-lirik mereka. Baginya pria peminum dan bukan sama saja dan tidak ada hal keren saat meminum alkohol.
"Kita engga pernah beranggapan pria yang minum lebih keren dari yang engga minum, kita berpikiran semuanya sama saja. Kita juga enggak pernah mengagung-agungkan alkohol," tegas Jerinx.

Jerinx SID Ingin Tulis Buku

Siapa sangka pemuda yang mempunyai tato banyak dan juga penggebuk drum band punk rock bernama Superman Is Dead ini juga mempunyai hobi menulis yang tak disangkanya. I Gede Ary Astika atau dikenal Jerinx telah menulis novel pendek pertamanya yang berkolaborasi dengan Djenar Maesa Ayu berjudul Kulkas Dari Langit.
"Saya dengan Mbak Djenar (Maesa Ayu) kenal dari twitter. Dia ke Bali terus anaknya minta bikin tato, di situ dia menawarkan untuk bikin cerpen," paparnya saat ditemui di Kantor Sony Music, Jl. Johar Menteng, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (27/1).
Jerinx yang juga menulis lirik lagu di Superman Is Dead mengalami kesulitan saat menulis novel. Dia menilai bahwa menulis novel sangat lah susah.
"Lebih susah bikin cerpen daripada bikin lirik lagu. Mungkin karena saya belum pernah," ujarnya.
Tak ingin menyerah dan seakan mendapatkan hal baru, Jerinx berkeinginan untuk membuat sebuah buku. Namun dia berkeinginan untuk membuat perusahaan percetakan terlebih dahulu.
"Ada rencana untuk bikin buku, tapi kayaknya saya harus bikin perusahaan percetakan dulu, karena tulisan saya enggak ada yang mau nyetak," tukas penggemar Social Distortion.

Jerinx SID Coba Rambah Dunia Akting

Sukses di band membuat drummer Superman Is Dead (SID) Jerinx berkeinginan untuk mencoba dunia baru seperti bermain di film. Jerinx menuturkan bahwa beberapa tawaran film atau FTV menghampiri SID namun personel lain menolaknya.

"Film sebagai orang lain, bukan sebagai anak band, saya sih mau tapi yang lain menolak (Bobby dan Eka)," ujarnya saat dijumpai di Kantor Sony Music, Jl. Johar Menteng, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (27/1).
Dalam film yang tak disebutkan oleh Jerinx, ia mendapatkan peran yang menurutnya sangat gampang sekali. Dia juga tak perlu berlatih akting sama sekali mengenai perannya ini.
"Berperan jadi berandalan yang jatuh cinta sama janda, gampang lah, enggak perlu akting," paparnya sambil tertawa.

SID Senang Bisa Beri Semangat Kaum Trans Gender

  Saat ditanya mengenai pernikahan drummer Superman Is Dead, Jerinx menolak untuk menjawab. Baginya pertanyaan ini tak ada kaitan dengan bandnya. Jerinx yang jarang membahas masalah pasangan atau pacar banyak disalah tafsirkan bahwa dirinya seorang gay.
"Banyak yang bilang saya gay karena saya engga pernah
membicarakan masalah pasangan atau pacar," ujarnya saat dijumpai di Kantror Sony Music Jl. Johar, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (27/1).
Dengan adanya pemberitaan serta omongan seperti itu ditepis oleh Jerinx. "Kalau ada yang bilang di depan aku ya dia masalah buat aku," paparnya.
Lagu-lagu SID yang menyuarakan kesetaraan dan sosial membuat mereka mempunyai penggemar dari kalangan trans gender. Jerinx merasa senang bahwa lagu-lagu SID bisa memberikan semangat untuk para kaum minor ini.
"SID punya lumayan penggemar trans gender, kalangan lesbi dan gay. Banyak yang mengucapkan terima kasih karena mereka merasa bersemangat dengan lirik lagu yang kita buat," tukasnya.

Superman Is Dead Akan Keluarkan Album Baru
Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Superman Is Dead, grup band kebanggaan Pulau Dewata Bali, akan mengeluarkan album terbaru pada 2011.

"Rencananya kami akan kembali mengeluarkan album terbaru sekitar bulan keenam tahun 2011," kata Eka Rock, pemain bass "Superman Is Dead" (SID) kepada ANTARA News di Denpasar, Minggu.

Dikatakannya, saat ini pihaknya masih mengumpulkan bahan-bahan lagu yang akan dimasukkan dalam album terbaru tersebut.

Sebelum Maret 2011 pihaknya sudah akan melakukan rekaman untuk album tersebut yang temanya masih mengangkat soal permasalahan dan kritik sosial, ujarnya.

Selain itu, ucapnya, seperti di beberapa album sebelumnya, dalam album baru itu juga akan ada kolaborasi dengan grup band atau para musisi lainnya.

Ditanya apakah dia akan mencoba untuk menyanyikan sebuah lagu di album tersebut, Eka hanya mengatakan tidak tahu. "Lihat saja nanti, soalnya masih belum ada rencana," katanya sambil tertawa.

Sementara dalam waktu dekat, grupnya akan melakukan konser di Kota Pontianak.

"Selain persiapan penggarapan album baru, kami juga menjadwalkan akan melaksanakan konser di Kota Pontianak dalam waktu dekat ini," katanya.

Untuk itu, dirinya bersama personel yang lain tengah bersiap untuk konser tersebut supaya bisa memuaskan para "outsider" atau para penggemar grup band tersebut.

Selain itu, ucapnya, pihaknya juga berencana akan melakukan konser di luar negeri. Waktunya sekitar awal 2011. Tapi hal itu masih dalam rencana, sebab untuk melakukan hal itu memerlukan persiapan yang baik, katanya.

"Superman Is Dead" adalah sebuah grup musik dari Bali, bermarkas di Poppies Lane II, Kuta. Grup musik itu beranggotakan tiga pemuda asal Pulau Dewata, yaitu Bobby Kool sebagai gitaris dan vokalis, Eka Rock sebagi pemain bass, dan Jerinx sebagai pemain drum.

Pada awal mula kemunculan, sekitar akhir 1995, gaya musik grup band itu terpengaruh oleh band-band asing, seperti "Green Day" dan "NOFX". Kemudian, inspirasi musikal mereka bergeser ke genre "Punk `n Roll" seperti gaya bermusik grup "Supersuckers" dan "Social Distortion".

About Superman Is Dead

SID, punk rock pioneers of Bali, were born and bred in Kuta Rock City. The band is three chord attitude-heavy young men, by name : Bobby Kool (lead vocal, guitar, a dog lover and a graphic designer) , Eka Rock (low ridin' family man, beer drinker, laid back bass and backing vocal and a warm smilin' Rock 'N Roll bandman, IT warior) , Jrx (low ridin' beer drinking Rock 'N Roll prince charming, drummer and a hairwax junkie, Bar owner)

The name 'Superman is Dead' started its' evolution from Stone Temple Pilot's "Superman Silvergun". The name moved on to "Superman is Dead" cause they like the idea that there's no such thing as a perfect person out there.
SID actually stumbled together in '95, drawn by their common love of Green Day and NOFX. Their influences soon extended to the punk 'n roll genre a la Supersuckers, Living End and Social Distortion, and here they stay. They say what they wanna say, how they wanna say it. In your face, to say it precisely.

SID public image, self described, is "Punk Rock a Bali" (think raw energy of NOFX vs Social Distortion supersonically fueled with beer-soaked Balinese Rockabilly attitude).
History ? SID produced their first three albums independently (the boys worked years of crappy night jobs), with fabulous, small scale indie labels 1997 "Case 15", 1999 "Superman is Dead", 2002 "Bad Bad Bad"(mini album, 6 tracks).

In March 2003, SID finally signed with Sony-BMG Indonesia after extended negotiations regarding their right to sing the majority of their tracks in English and have full artistic rights over their 'image'!! With that decision they single handedly became the first band from Bali to be invited to sign with a major recording label in Indonesia, the first band in their nation (to my knowledge) to be recording majority of songs in English and the first punk band in Indonesia to get the national exposure and promotion that working with a major label in a third world country provides. And so the history of Indonesian Punk Rock begins!

And as for the question that everyone wants to know, the infamous bomb in Bali happened about 75 M from their home, hangout center, punk rock boutique, bar and rehearsal studio that is also Jrx' house, in the heart of Kuta.
After panel beating back the rolling doors of the studio and shifting a little debris, rehearsals continued as usual. Yeah, they saw a lot, it sucked big time, but its' not gonna stop 'em!

And where are they now? At the end of 2002, one of the more respectable music mags here cited SID as "The Next Big Thing" for 2003. With the release of their fourth album "Kuta Rock City" followed by major air play nationally and in some countries overseas, coupled with the instant popularity of their newest film clip.

SID suddenly find themselves touring continuously throughout Indonesia. Last week they were in four major Indonesian cities, on three islands, in 7 days! Sometimes playing for free at underground scene clubs, sometimes at street skate parties or alternative band festivals, at lots of universities and even occasionally at "classy" venues who would have probably denied them entrance years ago!
Which means more beers for all.

In 2003 SID even got a mention in Time Asia.
They also won a few music awards “MTV Awards for The Best New Artist 2003”, “AMI Awards for The Best New Artist 2003” and nominated again in “AMI Awards 2006 for The Best Rock Album”.

October 2007, they did an amazing Australian tour, 8 cities, 16 gigs, 33 days with their strong D.I.Y work ethic.

June – July 2009, Superman Is Dead held An American Tour, 16 Gigs in 16 cities. 11 gigs of them were the ‘ Vans Warped Tour’ and the last 5 gigs were ‘From Bali With Rock’. They did a very hard work to succeed this excited tour, had crossed the big land from westcoast to eastcoast and got back to westcoast.

SID had share stages with international bands such as International Noise Conspiracy, NOFX, MXPX and Hoobastank.
They remain proud, boys from the streets of Kuta with a love of punk rock, beers and a good time. Ready for whatever comes next, excited about the next gig.
